make sure to hold only the handle of your knife.

One: Stay Safe! Knowing how to hold a knife can save your life! We want to slice vegetables and fruits, not your fingers. No Oops! So always remember this:  You must put your hand only on the handle. And if you need some Oomph! you may only put your other hand on top of the knife blade itself. Do not touch the food!

And always be sure when you cut with a knife you have a special cutting board underneath. You don't want to hurt anything.

Be sure to wear shoes so anything that you drop, like a knife, doesn't hurt your feet! Real cooks always wear shoes. And they never touch anything from the oven without a glove on.

Two: Don't hurt others. Sometimes some food can make some people very sick. They are "allergic" to it. So it is always best to ask whoever you are cooking for if there is any food that makes them sick. Then do not cook for them anything that has that food in it. Some foods that can be very dangerous to some people are peanuts (which are in peanut butter), white sugar, (which is in cookies and cakes), milk, and maybe even wheat if somebody has Celiac disease. This is very important to remember.

Three: Make everybody safe and well!  ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANYTHING IN THE KITCHEN. We don't want any germs or cooties in our food, okay? So let's be really clean.
